Rich History

The history of Sapulpa dates back to 1850, when Chief Sapulpa of the Muscogee people established a trading post in what is now Sapulpa. Later, the Atlantic and Pacific railroad would establish a line through the trading post and name its station Sapulpa Station after the Chief. In the mid 1920’s, Sapulpa hit its first peak during the oil boom when the Frisco Railroad began to ship and develop through the area. Much of the architecture downtown dates back to this distinct period in history. Since then, Sapulpa has continued to grow and develop over the years.
